In Vedic numerology, your Birth Number (Mulank or Driver) represents your core soul archetype, instinctual behavior, and natural leadership style. It is determined exclusively by the day of the month you were born.
How the Birth Number (Mulank) is Calculated
The Birth Number is calculated by reducing the day of your birth to a single digit between 1 and 9 using basic digital root summation:
- Single-digit days (1st to 9th): The birth number corresponds directly to that day (e.g. born on the 7th = Birth Number 7).
- Double-digit days (10th to 31st): The two digits are added together until a single digit is reached:
- Born on the 14th: \(1 + 4 = 5\) (Mercury)
- Born on the 28th: \(2 + 8 = 10 \rightarrow 1 + 0 = 1\) (Sun)
- Born on the 29th: \(2 + 9 = 11 \rightarrow 1 + 1 = 2\) (Moon)
